Final blog post
The main issues I feel I have in my research paper and reflective essay is the organization of it. Making sure that my controlling purpose is evident, and my transitions from paragraph to paragraph are fluid, and make sense.I feel that I have all the right ideas for my papers, it's just a matter of being able to organize them in a way that makes sense for my audience. I also am concerned that I could analyze my quotes on a more detailed level so I want to make sure that my analysis is as detailed as possible before I hand in the paper for the final portfolio!

week 4 research blog post
I found a article called "It's a Brand-New Ballgame-For Sports
Reporters" by Malcolm Moran. In this article the author, Malcolm Moran, discusses the drastic
differences between sports reporting years ago, to reporting sports now in an
age driven by digital technology. I want to incorporate this into my paper by using this as an example to prove how distance sports journalists have become towards the athletes that they report(reporter spends more time with technology than players). I want to highlight that they don't have a relationship with the athletes there writing stories on which could suggest they fabricate there reporting. But why?
week 5 research blog post
A urgent imperfection that I see in my research topic is the fact that it is a sports topic. In my eyes there a people who like sports and there are people who don't. I:m concerned how I'm going to make my paper matter to the individuals who don't care about sports at all. My goal is to try to figure out how I can present examples that show that my topic affects those that don't care about sports. This imperfection is so important to me because I'm imagining my paper been read in portfolio assessment by a person who doesn't know anything about sports. How do I get there attention?
week 7 blog post
I've found a handful of sources to use in my paper but I'm still trying to figure out how to use each in my paper. I'm also still searching the web to find specific examples of sports journalist abusing there power and affecting the way fans view there favorite sports team. The toughest part for me when starting a paper is coming up with the first few sentences. Those first few sentences decide what direction I'll head in my paper and if I'll have the attention of my audience. In my introduction I want to introduce my topic, explain why it affects the public and why it matters. I then want to expand on those ideas and explain them in great detail using my sources to back up the points I make. Right now I'm not sure how I would end the paper, of course by summarizing my ideas, but that will be more clearer after I've written the middle section and the conclusion.
week 9 blog post
While I was writing my introductory section of my paper I was constantly trying to figure out how to appropriately introduce my topic to my audience of writers. How can I make this matter to them? What ways can I make my paper engaging so my readers don't think it's a boring uninteresting paper? These were the questions going through my head while I was typing my first few pages. Since my topic is essentially sports, I'm concerned how to engage my readers who don't care about sports at all. I think I still need to work on developing my central inquiry and what the purpose of my paper is. I want to better present my ideas in my paper in a more clearer way.
week 10 blog post
After writing a good portion of my research paper I would say it's been a struggle to just scrape to six pages of writing. During my writing I was really focused on presenting real life examples of fans being overly passionate about sports to my reader. I then wanted to find examples of sports journalists abusing that passion. The main problem I'm having is finding credible sources. My topic is the affect sports journalist have on fans and how they view there favorite sports team but I'm having issues finding specific examples of this occurring. I'm hoping during revision that I can find credible sources and work on the formatting of my paper so that's it's more easy to follow for my readers-specifically the ones that do not follow sports on a regular basis.
week 12 blog post
As far as revision plans go this week my goal is to write two more pages of my paper, find more articles that I can use for sources, and correct grammar and formatting mistakes. The meetings with my group members and teacher helped me see what mistakes I have made in my paper so far and where I need to improve in my writing. The main area I'm struggling on is my controlling purpose, where I want to go with what I'm writing and why I'm writing what I'm writing. I hope to clear up those areas this week.
